What’s your favourite children’s film?

It seems that our chief toy tester, Zachary, has a favourite film already at the age of 1, and I have to say he has chosen a real classic. What is the film I hear you ask?

It’s the wonderfully supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Mary Poppins.

As soon as the opening credits start he is hooked. I think it’s the music mainly that he enjoys but he gets so excited when he sees Bert (the fantastic, even with his terrible accent, Dick Van Dyke). He claps along with the 'A spoonful of sugar' song, laughs along with 'I love to laugh' song and sits with a serious expression when the children are upset.

I remember this film as one of my all time favourites too. It was a film watched many times. I think I watched the beginning of the film more times than the whole film though as my grandparents had it recorded on VHS and it was always put on when we went to visit but we had to leave before it was finished. I always remember as well, as this was a recorded version from the tv, that just before the film started there was an end recording of the classic tv show Pigeon Street, the clip of long distance clara.
This sticks in my mind.

The next films we are going to try him with are Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Bedknobs & Broomsticks.

What were your favourite films and what is special that you remember about them?
